Professional Learning with the Education University of Hong Kong

Sponsored by the Education Policy and Leadership Department with support from ACT-Education

This is an Action Research opportunity where you will engage in a school based research project on one or more of the following themes:

  • Analyze the foundations, components, and design of professional development in your school
  • Analyze and comment on the influence of school context and culture on the application of professional learning principles in the workplace
  • Consider the impact of culture on implementing strategies and designs for professional development and appraisal

The starting point for this action research project will be what you learn from attending selected workshops at the 2nd ICT Conference held at SWIS. After the conference you will be expected to engage in a small scale collaborative research project with colleagues from at least two other schools.

The research project is expected to take approximately 20 hours over a period of 6 months after which your group will be required to submit a report of approximately 1500 to 2000 words.

The Education Policy and Leadership Department will provide access to their learning platform and a wide range of resources and instructional materials. They will issue a certificate of completion.

A team of tutors from ACT Education will be assigned to give you support and advice about your Action Research

By completing this action research you will be in an excellent position to make progress towards the Executive Master of Arts in International Educational Leadership and Change offered by the Education Policy and Leadership Department at the Education University.
